Earth from 30,000 feet
Lush farmland or a Kandinsky?
This is so often what you see, no matter where you fly out of or into. This could be France, New Zealand, Japan or Bolivia.
Fossil of a giant boa constictor
Where IS this? I'm convinced there are millions of square miles in America that no one has ever set foot in.
Wyoming? Idaho?
Are these mountains or a close-up shot of a delicious pepper steak? I'm thinking the steak because it's making me hungry.
Crop circles.
Who is this one farmer who has a circular field in the middle of a bunch of square fields? Does he have a giant, rotating sprinkler, so his farm has to be circular?
The Badlands or a brain sample?
This looks like the early pictures that came back from the Mars rovers. But in a photo, it also looks like a section of a brain.
Uncharted national parks?
Is this some amazing gulch that isn't in any tourist guides? Does the Dept. of the Interior know about this area?
What lake is this?
Again, I searched Google Maps exhaustively and could not determine what body of water this is. It simply doesn't look like the great Salt Lake.
Asteroid site?
That crater is a classic asteroid-impact shape - especially with the small rise in the middle. Why am I unaware of any giant craters out west, aside from Crater Lake in Arizona (which this is not).
What lake is this?
I searched Google Maps high and low and could not figure out what lake or reservoir this was.
Eye of Jupiter?
Does Earth also have an "eye?" What the Hell is that and what's all the white around it - salt?
Landing in San Francisco
There's a lot of available real estate where you see those brown splotches! Some intrepid developer should get moving on that.
California or a circuit board?
You are what you eat. Could a state's topography become whatever industries it houses? Is Silicon Valley really just a big silicon chip?
